Coronavirus: a plan to help our customers

It is now clear that many of us will need to be isolated at home in the coming weeks. It is at a time like this that books can be a true friend and fulfil a sustaining role.

 Conscious also of the particular vulnerabilities of the seniors amongst our customers, we are therefore launching a free home delivery service for the foreseeable future covering Axminster and surrounding villages. With an advance phone call, you will also be able to ‘drive by’ and collect your book without calling in.

If you call us with your order (01297 33744) we will ask you to pay over the phone by card. If it helps, we will also be happy to advise on your next ‘read’. Once your book arrives we will call you and agree a convenient time to deliver. On arrival, our driver will ring your door bell and leave your book (suitably protected) on your doorstep.

If you don’t live locally you can use our ‘Send My Book’ service through which we instruct our wholesaler to despatch books on a next day postal delivery. This entails a low rate postal and packaging cost.

We hope these moves help to make life a little easier during a particularly difficult time. Customers who use it will also be helping to sustain a small independent business that is facing a very testing period.

Life will continue as usual in the shop for those who are happy to call in. We will obviously follow best practice in sanitary and customer protection terms.
