THE Archway is now the proud patron of not one but two book clubs — and more may follow if that is what our book loving community wants.
Club 1 came together for the first time at the end of May, meeting at the shop in Axminster. It is being led by Archway enthusiast Rachel Tettersell and has chosen as its first book ‘The Forest of Wool and Steel’ by Natsu Miyashita.
Club 2 will be meeting afternoons at the Colyton Garden Shop and being led initially by Barrie Hedges, who lives in the town and is a volunteer at the shop in Axminster. The club’s first book will be chosen at the initial meeting on Monday 10 May.
Archway owner Simon Holmes is delighted to see two clubs now underway. “It was one of my ambitions when I took over and it is really satisfying to be able to bring book enthusiasts together to share their love of a good book,” he says. “We will still be very happy to hear from anyone who would like to join a club — whether one of the existing ones or others that may well follow.”
In addition to the mainline book clubs, Simon is keen to hear from anyone interested in joining a club devoted to specific interests such as military history, science, nature, sci-fi or fantasy.
The deal that applies to all clubs is that the shop will supply chosen reading material to members at a 10% discount.
